Futures in Chemistry
Part of the National Levelling Up: Chemistry suite of programmes.
Eligibility
In addition to the standard eligibility criteria, you must also be studying the following subjects (or their equivalents) to be considered for the Chemistry programme:
- A-Level Chemistry
- A-Level Mathematics
How does the Chemistry Programme work?
As part of the Chemistry programme, you will be allocated:
- A tutorial group (approx. 5 – 7 participants per group)
- A Chemistry programme tutor
- A Chemistry programme mentor
The Chemistry programme takes place during the school term-time from March of Year 12 through to May of Year 13, with a different A-level Chemistry topic discussed in each three-week cycle as shown below:
Three-Week Programme Cycle
Participants receive an online introductory study pack including video guides and independent study resources for a certain A-level Chemistry topic.
Students complete structures self-study questions and submit responses to tutors for review.
Participants attend a one-hour online tutorial with a programme tutor and up to 10 other participants.
Questions relating to the topic and the self-study pack from Week 1 will be addressed and discussions facilitated between the participants and the tutor.
Your group will attend a one-hour online mentoring session with an undergraduate student mentor.
Participants will have opportunities to discuss a range of topic, such as University life, UCAS applications, and more.
